Summer residence: "Marianne confronts the Night" by Gaspar Chabaud

A one-month residency starts in Ciclic Animation. It's the director Gaspar Chabaud for his short film project "Marianne confronts the Night" on the theme of mourning.

Gaspar Chabaud graduated in Graphic Design in 2016 and then studied animation at ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels. In 2021, he graduated from la Poudrière (France). Tête de Linotte! made in La Cambre which won several awards and festival selections, including a Mention du jury étudiant in Animafest Zagreb and the Audience Prize and Extra-Court Prize in Premiers Plans Angers. He also directed Tutu adapted from the tale of the Little Red Riding Hood or Claude’s Spring.

Recently, Gaspar Chabaud participated in the collection En sortant de l'école and carried out several internships on various animation projects.

Marianne confronts the Night is a dramatic comedy that addresses the theme of death and mourning. The character of Marianne portrays a person distressed by this dark universe.

This project has received a writing grant by Ciclic and the Centre-Val de Loire Region and a residence programme financed by Ciclic Centre-Val de Loire and La Poudrière. Director, Gaspar Chabaud, will be in the residence from July 4th to 29th 2022.

Today, Marianne is accompanying a friend to her mother-in-law’s funeral. But if there’s one place she doesn’t want to be, it’s in a cemetery. It is difficult for her to forget her fear of rubbing shoulders with people in pain, and she is very embarrassed by this appointment, which comes under the umbrella of death. For a day, she will discover a family that leads her to see things in a different way.
