« Viva Mexico » by Hefang Wei at Ciclic Animation

The colors of Mexico seem alive at Ciclic Animation: a great portrait of the country through the fearless adventures of Louise with the new TV project Viva Mexico directed by Hefang Wei in residence until November 16th, 2018.

Hefang Wei was born in 1983 in China. She is gratuated from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in China. She joins a group in one of the oldest studios of animation in Beijing (Hu Xiang Dong Hua) as story-boarder. After coming to France she graduated from La Poudrière (Valence, France) and made the short films Chant des klaxons (2009), À moi (2010), The Bridge Chronicles (2010). The Banquet of the Concubine (2012) is an animated short film supported by Ciclic which won several awards in many festivals including a pre-selection at Cesar 2014. Aside from her own projects, she works on feature films, short films and series as a story-boarder, animator, background designer, layout man and composer. Accompanied by the scriptwriter Patricia Mortagne, Hefang Wei want to develop, with Viva Mexico, a smart and feminist TV animation for children, about a young girl confronted with a new culture. This project is the winner of pitchs MIFA in TV series and specials.

This project has received a support for development for TV Series / TV Specials by Ciclic and the Centre-Loire Valley Region. The Director, Hefang Wei, will be in residence from September 19th to November 16th 2018.
